Dianne McLaughlin - Award winning jewelry artist!
I have been making jewelry for about seven years. I've tried many techniques but have always come back to wire. Wire is so basic-so simple-but it's possibilities are endless. I am limited only by my imagination.
I am so happy that my designs have been accepted by the jewelry world! My pieces have appeared in noted jewelry magazines--most recently Bead Style Magazine, May 2012. I was recently named a finalist in Fire Mountain Gems 2012 Jewelry Contest --Metal. It was a tremendous honor to be chosen out of over 125,000 entries.
My jewelry making began with sea glass--that's me searching the shores of Bermuda for just the right size and color for my next creation. I love the freedom...and the frustration of wire. It can be so accommodating and then so not!! I use no patterns. I use only a wire cutter and occasionally a round nose pliers. My style is a work in progress. What I made last month will be different from what I make this week and nothing like what I will make next month. I am entirely self -taught and always learning.....and I love what I do. I hope that it will stir something in you as well and thank you for looking!
